i think it'd be a good first gig for him. no real expectations and he could get a taste of what its like to be a coach in a top conference. no way do i expect him to stay at all. 2-3 years then take a HC job at a big school. agreed he may not be ready though. i have heard he's said hes in no rush to get a HC job as his career has really just started

Yeah, IMO I think that HE THINKS he's not ready for a HC job yet. Anyways, I am hearing now that Vandy offered, he turned it down, Vandy came back with more dinero, he mulled it over and turned it down. I dunno if Vandy will come back for a third offer, but I see them starting to go after someone else. I just don't think that going to a place like Vandy as your first HC job is a wise move, esp when you only have 5 years experience AC'ing in college fb. We'll see what happens but it looks as of now that ol' Gus is still driving the bus at AU.

Hell yeah, he will live like a king in AU on that kind of salary. Not too shabby for 6 years out of HS. I still think we keep him for another year or so, but at 1.3 a year w/o the HC stress isn't bad unless something awewsome pops up.

that is interesting...

Anyways, congrats to Boise, looks like they locked up the Maaco bowl. I still think they got shafted in the bowl selection. However, this has been an awful game to watch...Have there ever been this many mistakes in a game???

haha yeah I read that...I think Arkansas would beat them with or without them. Mallet is a gunslinger man.

On the Boise State Utah game. I'm sorry, that was just some poorly played football by both teams. Utah made so many mistakes it was becoming laughable, and I can't believe that Boise couldn't hang more than 26 on them, they just didn't play like they had been talked up to be all year. Granted it had to suck playing in this game.

I had to work tonight and listened to the game on the radio. I cannot stand the announcers here in Boise. They are both "color commentators" and suck at calling the game. So I can't agree or disagree with you about the game, but I will take your word.

Dude, that sucks...I hope you recorded it. I mean, a win is a win IMO, but they just didn't play like the played all the other games this year. And its not like they were playing a powerhouse in Utah. But like I said I still think it had a lot to do with feeling like this was a consolation game, which it was. I still think Boise should have done better than the Maaco bowl.

I went to a typically mellow bar/grill for the BSU game last night and it was overrun by the most obnoxious a-hole fans I have encountered. One family got up and left with their toddler covering his ears.

Yeah, go Broncos.

Terrelle Pryor among 5 players suspended for the first five games of the 2011, but not the Sugar Bowl.

I hate Bronco fans.

However, I would have been smart enough to not take my toddlers and family to any kind of sports bar on a BSU game night.

Still no excuse for a-hole fans

Btw: Kevin nice avatar.

Wow, they got 5 games for SELLING THEIR OWN STUFF!

Imagine what would happen if they asked for $200,000 just to sign with OSU....

oh, yeah - nothing.

hahahahahahahaha, it really bothers you doesn't it??? Actually, nothing happened because he wasn't paid anything, and HE didn't asked for anything. The players at OSU had an exchange of autographed goods for tats, big difference man, regardless of the monetary value. Or do you have a red phone in the corner with the NCAA on the other end. Get over it...brah!

You're right...Cam Newton didn't "know." What a BS defense.

Here's what I said about that:

SGaynor said:
Really? That's your argument? Kid didn't "know" what dad was doing so it's OK? That just won't (can't) fly. That's never been a defense before. Just like schools can't say it was boosters and they didn't know. Doesn't matter.

And here's what PatForde says about that (and a much more detailed and eloquent response):

You thought this was Bowl Month?
Guess again.
It's We Didn't Know Month.
From Cam Newton to the memorabilia peddlers in Ohio, that's the operative phrase allowing them to continue playing in what has been a deeply tainted 2010 college football season.

It's a load of bullshit, to violate the laws, then say, "Sorry, I didn't know." Ignorance of the law is no defense.

As I pointed out earlier, Cam's dad's actions should have made Cam ineligible based on the rules that exist. Didn't happen. Now, some guys, sell THEIR OWN PROPERTY and they are suspended for 1/2 the year?

So they can't sell their property as long as they are in college, but the second they graduate (or declare eligibility) they can? What bullshit!

Well Hawaii looked like crap tonight... But then again they do play in the WAC. They couldn't even beat Tulsa in Hawaii. Doesn't Hawaii have the number one passing offense too? Just goes to show that great stats don't mean anything when you don't play anybody.
