You can do a mathematical analysis comparing the relative costs of flying vs. driving in dollars (4 round-trip tickets vs. gas, oil change, tire wear, etc.). That alone might help you make your decision.
There are other costs, too, like the cost of your time. If you have 10 days for your vacation do you want to spend 2 of them traveling by plane or 5 of them traveling by car? Plus the costs for motels and food on the road trip.
Not to mention the less quantifiable considerations:
- how crazy will your family go sitting in a car for that long, even if it is a plush newer Rangie?
- is the goal of the trip to be in Orlando or is the journey part of the fun?
- would you rather face the challenges of modern air travel (security lines, tiny bags of pretzels, obnoxious passenger in the seat next to you) or roll in the privacy of your own car?
- statistically your chances of an accident are higher if you choose to travel by road.
- how much enjoyment do you get from driving your Range Rover?
Just a few things to think about that might factor into your decision.
