What are some of the common parts that require replacement on a Series 1 Discovery?

Are the typical parts the same as most vehicles or are there any Discovery specific parts?

Brakes (rotors, pads)
Sensors
Egnine Parts?
Calipers?
Ball Joints
Axles and CV's

I am trying to do as much homework as possible before purchasing a Discovery.

I have a pair of 97 discos, one has 78k, the other 125k miles. I get between 25k and 30k miles on brake pads, and about 100k on rotors. I measured them during pad changes to ensure they were within spec.

The only other items have been wheel bearings, water pump, viscous fan clutch, electric fan temp sensor, and Idle Air Control valve (stepper motor) on the high mileage truck.

I check my fluid levels (Diffs, trans, transfer case, engine oil, coolant) every couple of months, so I guess that helps keep the major problems at bay.

However, I don't baby the truck. I play in the mud, rocks and sand on average 2x a months, and use it as my daily driver.

Check out http://www.dap-inc.com for prices on Rover parts so that you know what you may be in for.

Front brake pads, alternator (2) if this one goes out I'm going with the mean green everybody is hypeing up, serp. belt, tail lights and side marker lights , and now that I think about it and all the other cars I've had it is very trouble-free. Ron

Not much really, new brake pads and a new alternator in 60,000 miles.

fyoooool pump

My 4.0 loves to break these, so I always carry a cheapo spare Auto Zone pump (and the associated tools).

Can't remember the Master part # off the top of my head, I'll have to dig around for it...

It's just the pump, not the pricey full setup LR tries to pawn off you. It's like $69.99 versus $300.

Part is # E3240

It's just the pump, BTW, not the entire assembly/hoses
