Fair price for me to pay?

Thanks for your thoughts

do a search on the topic, there have been several threads about things to look for when buying a Disco. being a D90 owner, I would imagine that you're privy to the nuances of Disco ownership.

I'm not sure, but I think owners of the 2003 DII have had issues w/ the "3 amigos". Do a search on that and you'll find plenty to digest.

Look up the private market value on Edmunds.com
to get a better idea of what you're getting into, maybe Kelly BB too. Personally, any rover I purchase is going to be a low ball offer from me, due to all the maintenance issues that were most likely ignored. See if you can get the service records on this beauty and you'll have a better idea of what you're getting into. I'd offer him no more than $15k, personally, but that is with not knowing anymore about the vehicle.

they are nice lookin'! good luck...let us know what you decide.

Thanks for the info.
It has been Maintained by rover and all the records are there and it just had the 45K mile mtc.

What are the 3 amigos?

I read the info on the 3 amigos :)

I could always get a 1999-2002 Disco for cheaper but though the 4.6 was a better engine in the '03/'04 and I like the headlight look also in front.

$16k for that few miles is a pretty good deal. You can find some 04 Disco II S models for the same price. Is this an SE or SE7 (or are they called HSEs in 03)?

I've got an '03 SE that came with 58k on it. With the truck, extended warranty, and them doing the 60k maintenance package on it, I paid $20k for it. It is a good truck, but like previously mentioned, you may want to either consider installing the CDL yourself, or get an '04. Personally, I chose to go with the '03 so that I could know what I have done to it and what is being put in/on it. Then again, I'm a bit optimistic about dealerships and prefer doing it myself.

I will not be offroading in it so I don't know that I need a CDL.
Isn't that really its main function or do yo uhave other winter driving concerns etc..

Thanks for the input.

So no matter what extend the warranty????

Seems like a pretty decent deal. Go for it. Would be great if you could get some $ knocked off the price. Definitely get an extended warranty. Best is to go to Land Rover. Second best is APCO (same as LR ext warranty, just sold by a 3rd party). Third best is any other warranty with a decent contract - READ THE FINE PRINT!

No CDL = AWD (one wheel spins and you can be SOL). CDL = 4WD (one front and one rear have to lose traction).

If you're just going to the mall, there are better choices out there over the Discovery.

And, how do you know you'll never take it off road? Your Defender might be in the shop one day when you want to go off road.

Yes, unless you're rich and don't care - but then if that were the case, you'd not be looking at an 03 vs 04 to save money. ;)

Frankie,
Go for it, you will enjoy the power. The CDL is nice, but you have the D90 and you can still take the Disco out w/o a CDL. I am sure that you can buy another brand but it is good that your staying in the family. Congrats, it sound like you found a good deal. I have a `04 SE7 and we love it.

The LR extended warranty cannot be purchased by anyone except the original owner, and you must have both one month and 1000 miles left of factory. Keep that in mind when considering warranty.

YES...I have an 04 SE7...great car...but buy the warranty WITH the car at the time or purchase... you may not be able to after the fact...or only for $$$$$.
