Constant Velocity Fan vs Fan Clutch?

So, today my check engine light came on after I reset it. The first time it did not show a code. This time its CODE 14. I have done everything possible to the cooling system except change the viscous fan clutch and water pump. I guess I have a two part question.

1. If the water pump fails what CODE read out would I receive?
2. Has anyone done a conversion on the fan clutch to a constant velocity fan?
a. If so can you provide part # and resources.
b. Is there any electrical work needed to have the check engine light disengaged.

i don't think any codes will show up when your water pump goes. none did on mine. don't think there are any sensors there to monitor it. one drawback that obdi cars have, less diagnostics. here are the codes for obdi: http://www.fourfold.org/LR_FAQ/RR/FAQ.Engines.Fault.Codes.html#14
