It's an amazing build.I was at his shop yesterday checking it out. He's also helping me with the sammi build, and recently did a gas tank skid plate for the disco. A very talented young man. And a great guy.

It looks to me as if he knows what he is doing.

Indeed it does. Maybe he just wanted a matching set or something. I'd take a toyota rear over a d44 anyday. More clearance, it is stronger, and parts are plentiful and cheap.

questionably stronger R&P, and a stronger housing... but he gusseted the crap out of the 44 anyway, so that wouldn't have mattered.

Unless I am missing something, I don't see the point. Please feel free to school me if you will. I don't mind picking up info.

He got the 44s with ARBs and used the toys on something else. This kid knows what he's doing. He does it for a living.

all depends on how much power you have...real power will shred a D44

rovers and toyota's get away with thinngs that other trucks wont because they for the most part are under powered.

as a example look at scouts...the D44's lasted just fine with the 304 or 345 engines, put a 392 in there and they spit out the gears in real short order.

---------------------------

this project is really cool, people have all but forgotten about simple leaf spring suspensions but they just plain work.

they will be really happy with that truck when its done I bet.

Seem sorta weird to me. He could have sold the Rover for enough to have bought a nice jeep or toyota project truck and had a lot of $$ left over for all the parts.
To each their own I guess.
