This is related to the Snow Peak tent thread. Anyone have any good camping catalogs they recommend? I'm not looking so much for camping magazines like the best trails to go on or anything like that. I am talking about gear catalogs...something I can drool over in the evenings.

The Snow Peak catalog is a good example...heck, I'll take an REI catalog if I am desperate.

My favorite is mountain gear (www.mountaingear.com) , followed by sierra tradingpost and campmor...Eastern mountain sports, REI....If your military and or government worker alot of these place give good discounts and there are outdoor websites dedicated to providing huge discounts...For example i get between 30-40% off arc'teryx clothes and equipment at one place. Hope this helps

There are definatly deals to be had at Campmor. Their catalog kinda sucks, but the web site shows everything. They have a section for stuff for sale that changes so I check it every week or so. I just scored a pair of Hobie sunglasses for $35.00.

Black Diamond has some schweeeet catalogs... amazing photos and cool stories. I just got the Mountain & Ice one the other day and the Alpine Ski one a few weeks ago. Beautiful... and I think their products kick ass too.

ArcTerx and Patagucci are also pretty good catalogs
Mountain Hardware is decent, but not a complete full line catalog
Helly Hansen is good (both the hiking/trail running and the sailing catalogs)
Backcountry, Campmor, STP, REI, EMS etc... as previously mentioned

If you are in to some more "tactical" gear, get the BlackHawk catalog. LOTS of products and it gives me some ideas when I do modifications to my own gear.

I always looked forward to getting the latest Patagonia catalog in the mail. The last few catalogs have been very disappointing. The last few have been either all enviro or have looked like a Sundance catalog. I used to drool over seeing shots of dry tooling, kayaking some heinous drop, chest deep cold smoke powder or some hard guy on a remote Himalayan knife edged ridge. Call me shallow but that was the stuff that made me open the catalog and buy their stuff. Their catalog used to give me inspiration.
