My 04 Discovery was registering a misfire at start up. My shop diagnosed a coolant leak in cylinder #6. (not the head gasket but leaking through the cylinder liner) The options given to me to fix the problem were A-remanufactured engine, B-used engine or C-use block seal in the coolant system. I've never used this block sealant before. What would you do???

Sealer will *maybe* stop it. "K-Seal" works well.... That said it's not likely to do much for long.

Depends on budget - but a proper remanned block with better liners is the best bet.

Im going 18k miles and counting on an Irontite sealed block that was leaking coolant into #5.

After a long discussion with my mechanic, I'm going to try the sealant. If that doesn't do the trick I might have to sell a few toys to afford a new engine and that would be sad.

K Seal in the first instance simply because you have nothing to loose....yes it may silt up the radiator...maybe....but I've never had a problem with it. Long term....well....reading this board you probably know the drill....liners, gaskets and those goddamn stoopid bloody stretch bolts they decided to use.....oh my!
