Coolant leak fix recommendation?

I have a massive coolant leak between the inlet manifold and the block. The coolant pools up in the back of the 'u' shaped gasket & then runs down the bell housing & all over the floor.

1) Am I supposed to goop up the big black gasket around the coolant inlet ports?

2) Are there torque specs for the bolts that hold the inlet manifold onto the block?

3) Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Paul.

No you don't need to put anything on it, but I usually put some Permatex Aviation Form-a-gasket around the cooling jackets if they are pitted. I'm surprised you didn't need to pull a valve cover to get the intake out.

I just got done putting everything back together, torqued the intake manifold to 38ft/lb and it's still leaking. I'm not going to take it apart again (three times now), I'm going to borrow a bore scope, and/or pay someone else to fix it.

I torqued the manifold bolts down after making sure there wasn't anything between the head and the gasket. I can just see it dripping, but can't get a good look at it. Need an inspection camera/borescope. Nothing else seems to be leaking.

Immensely frustrated.

Mine leaks from the valley pan. I did it once already, not doing it again. So I just keep topping it off.

Update:

Dry as a bone. Applied sealant to the underside of the gasket, then the underside of the inlet manifold. Torqued to 28 ft/lb & that sealed it. Now I need to do the same thing to the engine in my Defender...
