Just replaced throttle body gasket with kit today because I know they fail and it had a slight leak.

I have had an on going coolant leak issue and after doing the throttle body today and starting the truck back up I noticed a pretty substantial drip from what appears to be the bottom of the hose coming off the bottom of the coolant reservoir tank. I changed the actual hose and replaced the clamps with ones that screws vs clips. (left the old ones unclipped on for now).

Can't stop the leak. Any advice?

Thanks

You cracked the tank. Your hose is routed wrong and bending the line backwards. On top of that get rid of all those extra hose clamps, 4 is a little overkill.

the nipple on the underside of the tank probably has a crack in it. they do that as they age and if they are stressed by the hoses.

Cracked tank is certainly a possibility. Only leaks when engine is running. How should the hose be routed then? I didn't adjust that hose routing . It's been that way for a long time and that line running to the throttle body is not very flexible so not sure how big of an adjustment I could make.

How hard to replace that expansion tank?

Thanks

Once it’s empty, it pops right out. Take off the hoses, connect them to the new one and pop it back in place. I’ve done 2 in the last 5 years.

Ok - so you guys were correct. Small hairline crack on the back of the tank/ top of nipple. Got the new tank and installed. Coolant level dropped again a little after the test drive. Will top off again once it cools. Hopefully that was it. Thanks.

In order to explain why this tank is better here I try to explain:
Genuine plastic tank has inside
dividing walls with rectangular passages, with perfect vertices. Expansion under pressure produces only in a few months, from each vertex, a fissure that reaches external surface, beginning to leak more and more. Mahle tank has apparently modified these passages, so that their vertices are rounded, and do not encourage the tearing out of those cracks.
