I have searched and read many of the threads discussing the cooling system mods to the thermostat and am just a little confused. I read of an inline mod and also using the PEL500110 thermostat to get the operating temp down. what mod is the considered the best? I have a disco II 99 model with the 4.0 that I will be using around the ranch mostly off road in hot weather at low rpm and low speed a lot of idle time and lugging soft ground and i want to keep it as cool as i can.

Thanks

I went with a 180* thermostat and an ultragauge to monitor temps and set warning alarms. The factory temp gauge is pretty much useless, once it starts climbing, it's too hot. If you really want to keep temps down, may want a better fan with a lower engagement temp.

Years ago when we did the inline mod the aftermarket 180 was not an option.

I am still running the inline without any issues but not having to cut up hoses and retrofit is always better.

Yea, I forgot to mention, the 180* t-stat I did is a factory replacement (not the inline mod)
