Went up to camp for a few days with Smokey the dog .http://www.discoweb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=36203

Last time up i sat for Coyotes with my Mod700 Special.
This time i dug out the Good Old HK 91.
I purchased this when i was 18 complete in wooden gun create imblazoned with HK
all over it.
it was still in cosmoline and the kit came complete with Para stock and foregrip and also Sniper stock and foregrip , also a factory target showing accuraccy out of the factory
The scope was missing from the kit.
5 years ago the scopes and mounts started showing up on the net.
The scope cost more than the rifle did when purchased in 1977.

My buddy bought a scope also just so he would have the scope when he found a 91.

I remember when you could buy a new HK at Playtogs in Middletown for something like 400 bucks in the mid '80s. What a fool I was not to pick one up back then.

In 77 i paid 320.00 for the complete kit.It was a Military create from german inventory.

At the same time for 320.00 I also bought an FN FAL 1954 version in 7.62 ,the early models were 7.92 mauser.
The rifle acctualy has H&R markings on it as it was imported by Harriington and Richardson for the US Army.

A Guy walked into my local gun store trying to sell 11 each of the 91 and FN still in cosmoline.
I bought one of each on the spot.

The good old days.

Not to rub it in but i wouldnt sell either for less than 5000,00 today.
Nice interest rate.

watching 5 coyote out my office window right now :)

they spend all day on sunny days walking the rows of cut praire grass in the forest preserve hunting mice.

pretty cool how systematic they are covering the area. They spread out about 2-3 rows apart and all walk in one direction. When they roust a rodent they will bound after it but no more then 1 row over where thier buddy takes over.

pretty cool.

in a couple weeks here when the geese show up to nest in the mall parking lot we will watch them cross under the highway and drag geese back to the forest preserve.

all part of urban nature:rofl:

I tried to explain urban nature to the neighbor. She just couldnt understand why the coyotes would come into our island of homes to take our cats. "Like cattle" I said, "dumb and ummy". We provide some habitat and meat on the hoof.... i mean paw. Camoflage up like a mailman and carry a shotgun if you want to get rid of them ,I says. One idiot talking to another I suppose but there was a long quite pause after that.
