Got my new engine in today and replacing crank seals while I have the chance. I am about to head back out to the garage and try to get the crank pulley off so I can do the front seal.

Any suggestions on how to break this loose without it being in the truck?

Breaker bar on the bolt then bump the starter? Real question is, how you gonna get it tight after?

I got it off. Put a crow bar between the bolts on the rear and tighten the ratchet strap some more. Will tighten it up good tomorrow. How you tighten yours back up?

That does work, but hard to get tight to spec. Drop the oil pan and block the crank with a piece of 2x4. Good chance your pan is leaking anyway!

I like this idea planned on dropping pan when I get the new engine in anyway.

Jake go out and get an impact gun. Hit up Craigslist, I got a nice CP for $15. You'll wonder why the hell you waited so long to get one.

An impact gun is worthless unless you have a compressor that can push it. With that said, my 3/8 ir titanium will bust it out using a shallow 15/16 socket. Just becarefull and don't go to fast ot you'll end up sputting a hole through the radiator
