Crossbars for '04 Disco?

Ok, so after a search of this forum, I think I have the answer, but just want to clarify.

I just bought an '04 Disco II; upgraded from my '97 Disco I. I had two types of crossbars for my '97; a pair of the "clip in" style from the original 3 that came with the vehicle, and a pair of the "grabber" style that I got later on. Neither of course will fit my '04.

Question - does/did the '04 not come with any crossbars under the rear seat that attach to the roof rails?

I just want to make sure the dealer isn't ripping me off here.

Appearantly, those are extra. I didn't get any crossbars either. Didn't think to ask as I have never put anything on the roof...yet. I think you can pick up a pair at roverconnection or Atlantic British but they won't be cheap.

Thanks - I do have the high foot Thule system for big stuff like my aluminum boat, but it's nice to have the small crossbars for things like ski racks or even a quick trip to Home Depot with an oversized item.

Yeah, I was thinking of one for a roof top cargo box, that's why I know how much they cost. I don't think you'll need the crossbars for Home Depot Trips. My wife and I went to Sams and she saw this huge table that seats eight. I couldn't fit in the Disco so I blanket and some rope later It's on the roof. I put the blanket over the rear of the vehicle to protect the roof and the roof rails kept things nice and level. Vehilce was suprisingly stable around corners. Got a few funny looks but it was nice to not have to rent a pickup truck.
