I plan on getting a crossbow for this season and wonder if anyone can recommend a good but inexpensive crossbow. Right now I'm looking at getting a Horton "Legend XT 175" or Excalibur "Phoenix".

are crossbows legal to hunt with in your state ??

They just made it legal this year, so looking forward to take advantage of it this season. I have never shot a real crossbow. I have shot a 50lb, but that wasn't to exciting.
Yep heard a few others talking about this as well. I was all for it for disabled hunters, not sure what to think about others using them. Seems like just another tool for poachers to use.

That's kind of the way I look at them. Go from rifles to compound to recurve to longbow, and it seems to me to be a fall back to rifle, albeit stealth mode. Why from a hunting perspective? Although fun to shoot I hear....
So I got the Horton Legend XL 175. Got it brand new from ebay for $300 less then retail price.

So be sure to fill us in with distance and accuracy of this thing. Just might fill the ticket on rainy days in our enclosed stands that are too tight to bowhunt from.

I should get the bow around wednesday or thursday. Soon as I get it I'll be testing it out and I'll let yall know the pros and cons. Hopefully more pros.
