unless you get new timing gears etc you will need your key, spacer, washer, gears and chain....

I ordered new timing set. So I can take those components from my cam that is in my old motor and install them on the new cam ( key, spacer, gear)?

the new timing set will have chain and gears... your 4.6.... previously built by you or whoever, should have a crank pully spacer of some kind.... RE-USE this.... as well as your cam key.... what cam did you decide on?

Ok so I can reuse the gear that is in the cam in the motor that is presently in the truck. I think that is what you are saying.

As far as the cam, I thought I ordered the 229 but my invoice says I ordered the 227. I am contemplating sending it back and getting the 229 but I gave not read anything bad about the 227. Seems like it is close to stock, maybe a tad more aggressive.

Send the 227 back. The 4.6 is better suited with the 229 or better yet the 230. Upgrade the ignition and it will run like a raped ape! For a Classic that is...

RAPE APE!!!! that was the first name of our race truck... until it became steve the race cow....

anyway, NO - im not talking about the spacer on the cam for the dizzy drive gear.... if you have a 4.6 in your classic - previously installed by whoever - they would have had to make a spacer on the crank to compensate for its LONGER length than the 3.5's and 3.9's.... my spacer is appx 3/4" of a multi-v style crank pully snout band-sawed off.... lots of people file the teeth down on an extra crank gear.... you'll see.... when you pull the f/c off, SOMETHING will be on the crank just floating there between the back of your crank pully snout and the crank gear....

That's fantastic!

Fixed it:

I'll keep that in mind when building our next Rover.

We do the same thing when swapping in a 4.6L; we turn down a gear and it fits perfectly.
