Cruise control used to work intermitantly. I've replaced all the hoses, switches, buttons, edu and cassette. The pump works on my 91. I hear the relate click in the glove compartment when I mash the cc button. What am I missing here?
I had to use the Electrical Manual, from my Rave CD, to diagnose the cruise control on my 95. Turns out that I had a short in one of the wires in the circuit.
I have 209,000 miles on this truck. After 18 years, I have found that insulation on some of the wiring has become brittle and shorted, in the hotter areas of the engine bay.
My mechanic plugged in his "KNOWN GOOD" ecu in to my truck to see if the rest of the system was in good order. It was. I then bought/tried 4 ecu's from various sources who all claimed the ecu's they were selling came from a "running" vehicle. None of them worked. I found a vendor on Ebay in the UK who claimed he made sure the ecu I bought from him actually worked by running it in one of their trucks. It worked when I plugged it in & I'm happy.
I purchased from Avenger 4X4.
I hope this helps you because I spent way to much time & effort trying faulty ecu's & listening to sellers telling me the fault was somewhere else in the system.
