I have had problems with my cruise control before but it was usually just a cracked line. I dont know how huge of a sin it is but I usually leave the cruise control switch on. Well now about half the time my cruise doesn't work at all. If it does it will usually last about 5 minutes and then cut off. I also think if I depress the switch for a couple minutes it will work again. Anyone have ideas?

I have just made mine work. It was a pain to troubleshoot and my ECU was bad which apparently is rare. If you have the Rave CD there is a good diagnostic section on there in the electrical circuits pages.

One place you may want to check is the steering wheel mounted switches and the rotary contacts under the wheel. (take proper precautions with the airbag).
I had high resistance there which I corrected with a deoxidising spray. Also check the pedal switch(es).
One of mine had a broken plastic tab which allowed the switch and plunger to move around.

good luck,

Steve

if you search in the TSB forum, chris posted a thread which outlined the fuses that control the cruise control. it isn't labeled as such, fyi. anyhoo, i kept having issues with my cruise control. there were no obvious problems but i noticed that i kept blowing the fuse. i just replaced it with a resetting circuit breaker and have had no problems since.

Ya but I do would not think it is a fuse because its work every once in a while. If a fuse was the problem wouldnt it rather be a blown/not blown situation or can a fuse be going bad? So far it looks like the pedal switch is alright. Thanks for the help by the way.

Check the pump to make sure it is sealed properly. The end cap came off mine so it only made pressure intermittently. I snapped it back on and voila.
