The cruise control on my '96 Disco I has been "on the fritz" for years. The vac pump works (removed and bench checked), Replaced the switch, checked fuse. I also checked the vac lines and all seems well. Only thing left is to R&R the relay. I think it is located in the Pax side footwell but which relay is it?

The cruise ECU goes bad on D1's all the time. You can either resolder the board or splice in a D2/P38 Cruise ECU.

Would the re-solder job be similar to that on a window ECU repair? Or is there something different or more specific?

Yes, however I was never able to find anything bad with PCBs on several cruise brain boxes. Re-soldered whatever I thought looked dull, to no avail.
The only success I had was with replacing the D1 CC with D2/P38A CC box.

Is the D2/P38A CC a direct replacement or do I have to modify any of the wiring?
