Hello friends. Looking for a little help please. Today I came from a stop and heard an awful crunching sound as I pulled out. Definitely something was breaking under the car. I was pulling up to my driveway so I parked, got under and saw nothing out of the ordinary. Later, I got in to drive and a mile from my home, Three Amigos came for a visit followed by a P1590.

I have an "iLand" scanner so I was able to look at the ABS readings and clearly there is something wrong, front right. See screenshots. Otherwise I have no other sounds now. Drives fine, nothing unusual other than the dash lights. No more crunching, nor when turning either direction.

Did a wheel hub blow? Something else? Thanks for any help.

Roger that. I have a couple new front hubs for another money pit (2003 Disco) Im working on. I will pull things apart tomorrow and see if there is something obvious. Hoping its not an axle shaft. Those are pricey!

Ok - thanks for the reminder on Will. If I need those I will be reaching out to them for sure!

So I have the wheel, brake and caliper off so far. The hub is loose for sure...it moves all around in ways it should not. I need to get a larger socket to remove the hub nut so I will report back once I locate a socket.

Resolved!

It was the wheel hub. The bearings went on it. The replacement was easy enough but I figured you all would get a kick of the 12ft breaker bar I had to use to break loose the 360ft lbs of torque that held down the axle nut. Was super easy with this kind of leverage! haha.

Problem solved, all dash lights cleared and back on the road.

Cheers!
