CT brush guard and winch mount

The last I had talked to them I told them if they were ever in a position to send a group buy over to the states I'd be first in line. It's not even that it's a bad deal as is. It looks great, seems high quality, and they're the only show in town making them, so I definitely get it. There's just something, I don't know, yucky, about spending just as much on taxes and shipping as the item itself, especially when you're talking a couple thousand for a brush guard. FWIW I had a flatbed for my Tacoma shipped from Australia to NY that only ended up being about $400 for shipping. Had to wait for a group buy to get them to the states, but that's a much easier pill to swallow for a significantly larger item.

I ended up nabbing a used ARB for $500 a couple months back, so that's my stopgap until something turns up on the Hyena front
Yup same. I picked up a ARB and winch, for much cheaper. Still going to either build or if they start getting them over buy one. then part ways with the arb.
If you look closely, there is a lot of missing parts, or short cuts in the design they did. And me being me, would of had to fab it in the proper config. Reworking at least 1/3 of the bumper/skid.
What's missing you say? The skid frame is wrong, needs to mount on the outside of the frame. There is also a reinforcement angle iron running across the span. The winch box is close, missing the 2 drain holes at the front. Dixon-Bate mounts are too high, missing the wedge shim that goes behind as well as the bolt on gusset for the bull bar.
So for me all that wrong I couldn't see paying that much only having to do the changes then repowder coat it.

Yeah, my mechanic pointed out this wasn't a one-piece design either so not as robust as the more traditional names we're familiar with - not that I plan to abuse it, but considering the cost... right now I'm torn between ARB and the wide-face RTE bumper.

I wasnt really happy with the bend quality of the first iteration. Theh tube was really flattened around the bend. Got a mandrel attachment for the bender and redid it. Need to drill the holes for the winch control plug then its off to the powdercoater

Sadly, yes. This would cost more than the last 3 discos I purchased. And from the looks of it jeep smittybuilt bumper adapter kits would be the thing the disco market craves

I think you are underestimating what people are willing to spend on a Disco. There are people out there paying shops to do a chassis swap on rusted out D2s

maybe so

was there ever a dealer workshop addendum for the XD skid plate, or did they expect you all to just figure it out on your own?

Do those people have the acquired taste for a CT brush guard though? Seems more likely that they're throwing on ARB/terrafirma/britpart bumpers on

There was a winch we used to install, but it was nothing like what you built. Pretty sure any XD setup for events or whatever was either done at port or by Special Vehicles
