Cure for fast flasher with LED turn lights?

I have looked through the archives, but I can't find anything. I have changed my rear blinkers to LED. This makes the flasher think that the bulbs are burned out, so they flash fast. I have tried resistors, but that only made the lights dimmer, and they still flashed fast. Short of adding lights to the circuit, I can't figure out how to slow the flasher down. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Fast Blinker - Version 10.0

I tried the advice in this post, but it was for a Disco 1. I have a Disco 2, which has two flashers. I could not get it to work. Am I retarded? Will the flasher listed work and I did not hook it up properly? Should I use two of the generic 2 or 3 prong flashers that are listed in some of the other posts?

Please help...

I'm pretty sure fix is the same for the D1 and the D2.

The key is replacing the flasher relay that always flashes at the same speed. The stock one flashes fast to let you know when you have a blinker burned out. The LEDs make it think this is the problem.

You can also put a resistor in parallel with 12v line to the blinkers, but that is a lot more work.

I want mine to blink faster. On a cold morning I have to manually flash the blinkers. When it warms up then it still is on the slow side of normal.

I tried an EP-26 electronic flasher as in the instructions above (but not the same manufacturer) and I get nothing.... if I reinstall the original relay (with my jumpers), it blinks fast, with the new one nothing. I'm going to try and return the flasher and see if it's just bad...

any other ideas? If that doesn't work, I'm off to radio shack.

I went and got a new flasher and now it's flashes normally. Two weird side effects:

1) the first flash is slower than subsequent flashes, probably a characteristic of the electronic flasher

2) the trailer light no longer flashes on the flash. I assume this means I won't get any indication that the trailer lights aren't working correctly like I did before.

you know, you could just put a risistor on the line till you find the speed you want.

or at least i think so, no sure how LED's will work that way, but that's what my freind did to adjust the speed in his honda, just slapped a resistir right on the positive...

of course he had a box of resistors to experiment with, but maybe that will help?

I converted D1 rear bumper to LED's and had the fast flasher for about a year; finally burned out flasher. I replaced w/ a EP26 and I am back to normal flashes..............
