D1 Alternator Issue?

Had a recent episode with my D1. I currently run 2 optima batteries with a Hellroaring isolator/combiner. On 2 occasions, I started the truck - tach and spedo dead. The first time it was a cool (<50 degree) morning, the second time it was warm. I thought my alternator was dead, but I had to drive the truck a short distance anyway. As soon as the truck warmed up a bit, everything came back to life...both times. Since then, the truck has not had a repeat of the same issue.
Sound familiar to anyone? Ideas?

I had that happen to me once after leaving my truck at the airport for a week when it was -20 the entire week.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong but I think I remember reading here that water contamination in the VSS will do that.

New belt...maybe so. I actually have one waiting for install. Don't see the VSS connection though. How would the VSS cause a momentarily dead tach/spedo. Didn't have any of the usual bad VSS symptoms.

I had a lot of weird things happen, tach would die at start or during driving, speedo die or bounce.

I'd replace the belt, and go with it. If it happens again get a VSS. Mine acted up for about a year before it finally went
