Anyone here sell their OEM D1 catalytic converters recently? What price did you get for them?

I actually think the kid I had take it to the guy got 100 bucks off the top. Maybe 50?.
I know they look for some #s stamped in the thing before they make you an offer.
There’s also a scrap place near my work that takes them. He’s a little more legit than the other guy who always wants to meet me behind groceries stores.

I was thinking of trying one of the more well known online buyers to at least get a quote before I try one of the local places.

This is the first quote I received. I will hold onto them if that is all I can get now. Seems prices have dropped a lot. My guess is demand is low for new ones due to the slowdown in auto manufacturing due to the China chip backlog.

“Hello Terry,

Thanks for reaching out. As long as the cores are fully intact, prices are as follows:
  • LAND ROVER ESR3644 is $205
  • LAND ROVER ESR3645 is $205
Total comes out to $410.

If that sounds good, let us know and we'll send you next steps.

Thanks,
Scrap Catalytics”

I remember that guy.

He's still on FB, haven't seen him here in ages. And I think he's still buying.

$400 is enough to buy you a cheap aftermarket Y-pipe on ebay. If you want something like Borla or Magnaflow, $400 won't get you as far.

The most I think I have gotten for those parts numbers is are $700 I think. The advanced evaps ones were more like $1800 at one point but they’ve gone way down

How long ago?

I had the exhaust done last year. I had asked the shop to give me back the Cats so I could sell them and he came back with an offer for them. So it paid for the exhaust and cash in my pocket. In hind sight I probably should have gotten new Cats put back in to help with the rich exhaust smell.

My Cats were more than likely from a D2. Whoever installed the Y-pipe used a D2 one. Plugged the rear OBD2s and running some generic O2s. I only realized this after getting new O2s for my 95 RRC and they were smaller than the ones I pulled.

exhaust smell is probably caused by someone hooking up zirconia o2 sensors for a d2. it must be drinking fuel
