My factory D1 pioneer 6 disk cd changer under the passanger seat isn't working. It has power to it cuz it spits out the catrtige, i put cd's in, push it in, and go to the head unit, go to cd and it makes sounds and switches the cd's around depending on which number i push but i can't get them to play. I did MP3, CDR, and regular cd's NONE work. It's almost as if i need to find a secret hidden play button. Is this a problem anyone else has had? i can't figure out how to switch tracks either. It's a stock 1997 Discovery head unit.

Thanks in advance

Yup.

My 96 will do this, but usually only when I use MP3s ripped on my PC. When I select the CD, it tries to read, then displays "ERR" or something like it. I continue to mess with it and eventually it reads. Sometimes faster to read if, after the error, I try selecting a different CD. Seems to take one last read before switching and suddenly works. Never tried to debug. Not sure if it's the age of the unit or the advancing technology has left the unit behind.

has it worked previously and just recently stopped? or never worked? make sure cds are in correctly, correctly being upside down.
