Curious what others have done when they swapped a D1 transfer (or just the front diff lock housing) onto a D2?
My 2002 Disco front housing had a switch that gets pushed in by the range rod telling the truck when it's in low. It mounts to the front of the housing up high facing for and aft inline with the truck/driveshaft.
The D1 style (actually from an earlier Defender) housing has no hole for the switch at the end of the range rod, and no boss on the case to allow to drill and tap it properly.
What did you do? I have some ideas on ways to activate it but I'm curious what anyone else has done? I am not worried about the diff lock portion of it as I would rather not bother dealing with the shutting on/off of the ABS/TC and I'll just let the truck think it's not locked therefore leaving the ABS/TC active.... I know when it is locked and anyone driving the truck will know too.
Really I could just leave it hanging.... but it may be nice to have the features of the BCU knowing it's in low.
