To start, I found something interesting today, my 1996 D1 uses the same fuel pressure regulator as my 1980 TR7.

Somewhere in my TR7 new spares hoard I know I have an NOS fuel pressure regulator. But it could be in any one of 15 totes full of NOS smalls. It could take me hours to find the pressure regulator.

I’m am just about to put an engine I assembled in one of my D1 and am at the point of putting on the top plenum. I took it apart and put it back together with all new gaskets and seals as well as a new water pump and thermostat.

I have not seen the D1 run and it sat with a locked engine for at least 10 years. The replacement engine came complete oil pan to plenum but it also sat for about a decade. Both the replacement engine and D1 have very low miles.

Seeing as I have a spare fuel pressure regulator buried in my TR7 parts hoard, I thought about just replacing the pressure regulator preemptively.

However, my TR7 is now 40 years old and never needed the pressure regulator replaced. The one that came with the replacement engine seems to hold vacuum well.

Anyone here with a D1 ever had a pressure regulator go bad?
