Last night I installed jump seats in my 97 Disco SD. ($160.00 on ebay) and it went great, but I wanted to add some info for all of you out there wondering how do-able it really is. Things went pretty easy. So here's the steps.
#1 Remove one rear panels. including the cargo cover bracket
(only a couple of screws and the rest pulls out) Don't remove carpet
#2 Locate the bracket screw holes and match them with each bracket
(Pop out small grey plastic covers, and the other holes are under
grey or black duct tape.) the upper brackets mounts into the black
horizontal window channel. Seat belt recievers (red part) mount near
the back door and couple with the outside bottom brackets (large
bolts)
#3 Tighten the bracket screws (screws match up naturally use washers)
#4 Mark your cuts for the rear pannels. This is the fun part. Just put
the pannels back on as natural as you can and once things look lined
up you will feel the brackets bulging into the pannels. Hit the
bulging spots and it will dent enought to mark your cut spots. Don't
forget to mark the side seat round bracket near the wheel well. We
used a knife for the lower brackets and a wood drill bit to drill a
hole in the light access cover and the round hole for the side
brackets and it looked great. (seat belt cuts out of rear light panel)
#5 Re-install the side pannel with the new cuts.
#6 Hang the seat using the star screws/washers Do the bottom first
and then swing the side bars into the side brackets and screw those
in.
#7 Repeat on the other side and cut your 1st install time in half.
