95 D1 5 speed wont start. New battery about a month ago. has power inside and on dash, radio and fuel pump. Tried jumping it off and just will not crank.
Its been kinda slow turning over and just about didn't start this morning just like a dead battery.
I'm going to pull the battery and have it checked out.
Any suggestions? If battery is ok I'll pull the starter anything else that should be checked? Battery terminals look good and are tight, no corrosion.

I don't think there's anything sophisticated in the cranking circuit. How about:

jumper cable to starter
if it doesn't spin, then replace starter
if it does spin, then check wiring to starter and make sure ignition lock is sending the go ahead?

Curious to hear if there's anything else in the 14cux 5-speed circuit. I know there never was a clutch lockout--that was exciting!

You may want to look into your distributor etc. I had that problem a while back and it turned out my distributor had gone south. It can be confusing to nail it down, though, so here's the record of my saga on nas-row. Maybe it will help.

Simple things you could try before pulling and replacing the starter: Verify battery ground has clean and secure contact with the body. An old timer helped me out of the same problem once. He explained that carbon can build up in the starter, so bang on it a few times with a hammer to break loose possible carbon build. If you haven’t downloaded RAVE yet, it has troubleshooting steps for all systems in your 95. A workshop manual will have some troubleshooting too, but not as complete as RAVE, but doesn’t require a device to view it.

Update.
Let it set for a week, tried to start and took 2 times with it barley cranking fired up ran fine then no start. Had the battery tested and it's good. Still waiting on a clear day to get up under it and pull the starter

Attaching a diagram I made of 94/95 start electricals in case it helps.
If I still had my 95, I'd print that and laminate it. Alas, my 97 is a little different without the distributor, etc. but I'm curious how much so. I haven't owned it long enough to sort through any of that yet. Fortunately.

I'll print that off and keep it close. Its unrelated to this but can the alarm be disabled? my key fobs no longer work. Just wondering if it could be bypassed in the future or add an aftermarket key less unit.

In my non LR experience with starters, such a problem usually indicates a bad spot in the starter and when it randomly stops spinning in that spot it will need another tap to get it going again. If it does it again I’d go ahead and get a replacement ready to go. I personally have not yet had a D1 starter go completely dead but I do have one on a future project that turns over real slow but amazingly still starts the engine. When it becomes a current project it’s getting a new starter. I have another one that about every 30th start attempt the solenoid doesn’t kick out. But, with the second attempt it alway does. It worries my wife but, oh well…

I'll replace it at some point. It just got bumped down on the list right now.
