D1 - Owner says MAF is causing truck to stall rigth after starting

I'm buying a D1 for my boys and found a used 98. In the description of the ad it says "The MAF is on the way out so it stalls once when first started". Any validity to this diagnosis or other ideas? Motor has about 130K miles.

Tough to tell without any DTC codes. Is the 'check engine' light illuminated?

if the current owner will let you experiment with it.....with the key off, just unplug the maf....it should start and run relatively ok...

Can you keep it running with the gas pedal? I would look at the IAC and a dirty port first. Good luck.
