D1 Springs.......progressive or linear?

I want to replace my OME 2" lift with a 3" RTE set of springs on my D1. I've already replaced the drive shafts, front and rear arms, brake lines, etc.

All I need is springs. My question is: should I get progressive or linear?

I have a 300tdi with TLC winch bumper and winch up front. I have a $G rear bumper. Also have sliders and roof rack. All in all, the truck is obviously heavier than a stock truck..

I have a take-home car for work right now, so I don't put as many miles on it as when the D1 was my DD? However, I drive my D1 all over on my days off.

Everywhere I've looked the variable rates provide a more plush ride loaded and unloaded. So why would I want linear springs? Is there an advantage to linear?

Just looking for some advice.:patriot:

Does RTE even offer linear springs anymore?
My rear springs are linear 3" RTE's I believe, RR3-3. I can't say that I've had any problems with them. My fronts are the new 3" RTE Progressive's. My truck drives like a truck. The rise is firm and yes a little "rough" when unloaded. I don't mind it though. But everybody has different levels of comfort and what they'll tolerate so opinions will be varied I'm sure.
The nicest my truck has driven was loaded with 3 guys(insert gay joke here), all our camping gear, and our three mountain bikes on a hitch rack. Ride was smooth, even though the front end was a little light.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going with progressive springs.
