So a while back my 95 D1 developed a ticking noise, suddenly. I went through the entire gamut of theoretical symptoms. Lifters, broken rocker, bent rod, slipped liner, flattened cam..... ?
Long-ass story short, I found this, eventually.
It had power and timing did not seem to be off under load at all, even though the plastic coating on the cam gear disintegrated.

Idiot light works but never illuminated. Oil pressure gauge being installed (thanks PT)
Problem resolved, back together it goes.
