Talked to Justin at Lucky 8 and he put the idea in my head. Aside from notching the plate to let the shifter move to the side is there anything else I need to know about before I buy one and give it a try?

At the risk of sounding like a tool. Does a D2 Q have the CDL bolt and the linkage? the reason behind it was that if I get a case with the bolt and the ashcroft linkage im in pretty deep money wise. Im open to other options if anyone has them. the D1 case and shifter just seemed to be the most cost effective.

I just replaced my front output housing for one with all of the CDL equipment in it and stuck it on my 03 tcase. Works perfectly and way cheaper than replacing the entire tcase

Mate when you did that how did you go about the switch gear...d1 output housing having a diff lock switch only - was there wiring there to trigger the diff lock light on the instrument cluster? Did you use a seperate hi/low switch to activate the loom near the transfer case back to the slabs to be able to use HDC and get more aggressive low range traction control?

Finally did you use a D1 shift linkage and shifter?

Cheers mate

I cant remember if the wiring was there or not for the diff lock but I dont think there was. My truck no longer uses traction control or HDC anyways so I had no real need for any of the wiring except the original hi low sensor which i did use from my old output housing. The high low shifter assembly just unbolts from the top of the front output housing allowing you to bolt the original D2 shift assembly to the new front output.

The only remotely tricky part to the front output housing swap is that you need to make sure you have the right preload on your center differential carrier bearings one of which is pressed into the front output housing. It's hard to really explain without having some parts to show you what I mean. Maybe someone else can help me out?

Hope some of this helps you out

Thanks matey - much appreciated. I will report back when it is done. Yep the Hi Lo switch is important for re-map of throttle and hill decent control (and traction control aggressiveness if you want to use it).

The diff lock wires should have been there though to light the diff lock light on the dash so when you change to locked it lights up?

Cheers

Not a problem, I hope it all works out for you. Yeah the diff lock wires should have been there but since the '03 was never intended to have a center diff lock to begin with, i believe they just deleted that part of the harness for that year truck.
