You can hide a 12k winch between the framerails, in front of the front frame crossmember and behind the bumper. This is behind the GDE RRC non-winch bumper.

It uses the three bumper mounting holes in each framerail, same as the front bumper + 1 more. It does take some work to relocate the oil cooler higher and hoses away to clear up the real estate for the winch, and you have to make wires to relocate the winch solenoids, but the result is not too bad. The winch does not extend below the bottoms of the framerails.

The biggest drawback is the gear lever on the winch needs to be accessed from below. That is, you don't have to drop in the mud to do it, but you'll need to get familiar with using this lever without looking at it.

Looks good, which tray did you use? I'm looking at picking up a non witch GDE bumper for my RRC and may convert it at some point if I upgrade winches on my disco.

Man, what dont you have?? I think I am going to save my dough on that bumper for tires. Shipping and the "collect-ability" of the bumper makes it a little more than I am willing to pay.. - you still thinking about selling those Yokohama MT's??

I built it; I should have some drawings, but don't know where they are.

Yea that thought crossed my mind as well. I'll look some up online if I end up going that route..

Do you want the powder coated rims as well ?

Depends if you'll do a partial trade for my 3 spoke rims and tires. I think I have 6 total now.. Let me give you a call later on and we can discuss

D.A..P. used to sell the Bearmach hidden winch mount, but they don't list it now, and I am not sure if it can be purchased anymore. I would like to have one for a D1 if I could find it.
