Turn the key, and you hear various relays clicking in the passenger footwell, but the starter is doing a thing. I used to be able to just turn off the key and try again, and it would fire right up. Not this time. I tried playing with the shift lever, brake pedal, but nada!

Starter is about 2 years old. Battery is good, and fairly new.

Anyone got an idea?

Thanks!

Or try carefully cleaning the terminals at both ends of the cable that runs from the battery to the starter. That was the problem with my '65 Mustang ~40 years ago. Some things never change.

Battery cables are most often the issue. If that doesn't work you should check for 12v going to the solenoid lead (having removed it from the starter or penetrating with a probe) when the key is turned to the start position. Could still be a bad starter though.

Starter solenoid? I forget what mine was doing when that went out a couple years ago.
