D2 2003 mystery plug dangling down in the right rear fender, about 4" to the rear of the gas filler tube. What the heck is if for? It is not the tail light.

It appears to be C0666, 'sounder-alarm-battery backed up'. From the workshop manual...

When an alarm is triggered, the BCU operates the vehicle horns, an alarm sounder unit and/ or a Battery Back Up Sounder (BBUS), depending on market, to produce an audible warning. In some markets, the BCU also operates the direction indicators to produce a visual warning when the system is armed and disarmed and/or an alarm is triggered.

Thank you sir, I believe you are right. 666 seems a bit ominous :)
I looked through all 999 connectors in rave and missed that one.
Now to find where that fucker plugs in, looks like I need to pull the rear trim panels.

I think you're wasting you're time. I believe the 'sounder' was only available is certain markets. Typically, just the horn is used for alarming. The sounder would have been a secondary unit where the horn might possibly be disabled such as bashing out the grille and disconnecting the wiring from same.

Fixing something is never a waste of time. I would prefer that a plug associated with the security system is not dangling around loose in the wheel well area.

"Waste" by several was referring to time trying to find what it would've attached to if installed. That's a factory dangle.

By all means you should properly cover it and tie back into the harness.

we didn't have that option on LRNA trucks. it was most likely taped up into the harness and the crap tape degraded after 13-14 years.
