I installed a set of Ashcroft axles and cv's on my D2 a few months ago. I'm currently trying to swap out my third members and it is a really big pain In the ass that I can't pull the cv through the knuckle with the boot and clamp still on. So is there an easier way than clipping the cv band and pulling the cv through without the boot attached to get my axles to drop out of my diff? And if not is there an easy way to replace the band with out buying an expensive cv banding tool? I had a hell of a time getting it banded the first time!
Thank
Doug

Cut the cv clamp then yank the cv off the shaft they the knuckle.

When you install them, shove the shaft in without the cv on it. Then put the cv on thru the knuckle then clamp the big clamp. NEVER try to install an RCV (whoops I meant Ashcroft) cv axle assembled...you'll tear that flimsy boot.

Fwiw, ditch that boot that came with the kit and get boots for a C6 chassis A6 4.2 Quattro front. They are waaaay better and will last a lot longer.
