whats the trick there? PB blaster has no effect. that union nut won't budge and the flex pipe wants to give every time.

Make sure the hex union is tight, then keep your wrench on it and take a big hammer and hit straight down on the nut VERY HARD. That should break the union free from the manifold tubing. It may take a few tries but don't be afraid to whack it hard! After that, it should loosen and not try and twist the tubing on the manifold.

As odd as it sounds, it actually works(!).

Have to agree that a sharp crack with a hammer seems to do the trick. Don't forget to use a bit of anti-seize on the threads when you reassemble.

Yea..I'm hoping the head gasket build goes a whole, that's what I would prefer. if nobody is in need of the whole she-bang, I may go ahead and piece the stuff out in a week or 2 if your are still in need.
