01 d2, there is a buzzing sound that comes from the dash like a motor running but loud. left side of drivers wheel, close to the dimmer switch, behind a little vent looking thing. noise changes if i put my finger over the vent. wth is it?

its behind a vent so it is something that should be there. it seems to suck air into it for some purpose. if nobuddy knows i will get a video...

Ditto here. I suffer the same sound. Noticed my daytime running lights stopped working around the same time. Always thought it may be a relay or the fuse box doing it.

If you figure it out please post the solution.

Cheers.

LOL..my 02 does the same. That little vent to the left of steering wheel. I can change the humming pitch by pressing my finger on it. But Im driving with a slipped liner so who cares!

Just fixed this on my 2000 this afternoon. Takes about 5 minutes to pull it out. It's held together with 2 screws, take them out pull the impellar out, clean it all really well with CRC electronics cleaner, lightly grease the two spindles on the impellar (I used singer sewing machine grease), re-assemble and another 5 minutes to put it back in the truck. Completely silent after that. After seeing what the prices are on this, I'd say it's worth 30 minutes to an hour at most to clean it.

I ended up doing it twice, the minute touch of grease made the difference, we'll see how long it stays quite, but it took about 12 years to start making the noise the first time.
