Hey guys getting my discreet winch mount and stuff in soon and i have to remove the front bumper temporarily to install it. Does anyone here have any tips or advice on what to do and where the disconnects and stuff are? Any help is appreciated, without this website I would be in deep shit multiple times. Thanks, Mike

what winch are you mounting? the bumper removal is pretty straight forward. take off the lower bumper cover, and the screws on the very bottom of the bumper. look up under the bumper you will see the 4 bolts that attach to the aluminium crush cans, remove these. the two bolts hidden on each side of the bumper just have to be loosened up enough to slide out of the groove. and don't forget to disconnect the headlight washer lines before pulling the bumper off.

as for mounting the solinode pack. i made a bracket that bolts behind the battery tray, one hole is there and threaded, you just need to drill a second hole and cut a bracket to fit. i removed the remote plug and mounted it in the front grill for easy access.

Ohh that is a pretty clean set up. Thanks for the help, just what i was looking for. As for the fog light wires what about those? and the washer lines, if i disconnect em no fluid will come out unless it was on and running right ? Thanks, Mike

foglights just unplug, but do yourself a favor and cut the foglights out while the bumper is off. have a pan ready for the washing fluid, or a stick whittled to plug the hole.

The only tip I have is not to get the discreet mount... Period.

The first time you hit the mount it will become a useless "plow".

i agree they are not as good as a RTE bumper but RTE's were not out when i installed mine. RTE will be my next purchase when i rip off this bumper.
my skid plate sits just below the mount and takes most of the damage. if i hit my winch basket, i know my rear end will never clear the obstacle.

I think it depends on which one you get too.

A few months back in Moab, ER hit his once somewhere and it was literally about 8in from the ground after that. He's fixed it now but it was pure comedy at the time:rofl:

ben are you talking about the LR winch tray, the one that sticks out the front? on my dap mount the bumper will be ripped off before the tray catches.

I'll take the front light bar off the bumper when you part it out. That's the one I have been looking for....did you install it or did it come on the bumper?

i saw it listed as a option on the AU LR website when i bought my truck, then found one for sale in te UK. i'm in no hurry for the RTE, i have a series to finish restoring before i do any more mods to the disco.
