School me please.

2004 D2 se7 105k.

I read stories about holes in transmissions from exploding drive shafts. Is it u-joint failure? spline failure? Everything seems tight but it sounds like I should just do some RnR to be safe. Advice???

What is the story on the 4.6 engine. From what I read it's 9.5:1, but to me it seems a bit sluggish I think it has decent power, I haven't compression tested. It's just not what I would expect from a 9.5:1 engine requiring premium fuel.

What do these things run for differential gear ratio?

There are several reasons why, one is airflow. But they pull a lot more than one would think. I have the d&d 52230 cam. Much better power. I would get a GBR front and rear driveshaft. The rear needs the conversion for u joints. Mine has 145k on it and pulls great. I am also adding the GBR 4.43 gears. So more get up but I want the torque.

U-joint failure. The factory joints aren't greasable, and they sit right next to a hot catalytic converter, so they just dry out and fly apart.
