I had RTE-similar lower front shock mounts on my D1 and retained the springs.
I used these plates from Ballistic Fab.

Drilled two holes in the plate to match the spring perch bolts and shock mounts. Bolt went through the shock mount, retainer plate, and spring perch.

Thats an idea.. Justin is looking into whether or not the Terrafirma retainers will work with RTE mounts. If not then I may try this.

I thought about it, but never had issues when using the inverted front cones. I would do as Brett did, but TF's are probably the same price as doing it yourself, and they're zinc coated

Those TF retainers look pretty flimsy/cheap. And that zinc coating doesn't really do much, wanna see my QT cones?
The design of the Ballistic Fab retainers really bites. You can put the plates in place and loosely install the bolts. Then spin the spring to lock it in; tighten the bolts.

Or go to Home Depot, buy 12" of 1" wide 3/16 steel... Cut in half, drill 2 holes to match spring retainer bolt holes...

That's what I've got for my rear lowers. I liked the round Ballistic Fab ones for the front because they provided a nice platform for the shock mounts.

I've seen it done a couple of ways, I've seen people turn the mounts so the U is in line with the bolts and run a piece of flat bar through the opening. For mine I had a set of front retainers probably similar to the TF ones and I notched them out bigger to fit around the shock mount. It takes away from the strength but if you're running upper front cones it's enough to hold the spring. I would not count on it if you retained the upper also.

Ok I'm wrong. I saw what I thought were rrc eas mounts on a d1 but I thought it mounted to the top of the spring bucket with the 4 studs.

Maybe it was aftermarket.

Sounds aftermarket. These mount to the frame rails in front of the spring perch.

I've seen those on a truck before too, I think they might have been QT but I've never been able to find them.

I had the qt's on my green d2. Inverted cones and the qt upper outboard mounts. I welded ballistic fab lower shock mounts on the sway bar axle mount.

I might have a picture somewhere.

It gave me 7 more horsepower!

just weld the spring to the lower spring seat or upper turret ring.

Doesn't rovertym still sell those lower retainers that terrafirma copied?

I have both lower mounts and retainers from RTE on my D2. I don't have a pic of them installed, but here are some pics.
