:D Tackled and finished this project. It was a definate pain in the @$$!

It is 3" 16 ga. steel tubing (not conduit). The top is fabbed from 16 ga. flat sheetmetal. You can't see the grate but it is there. The blue flex hose is from Mcmaster Carr.

Bottom line it was cheap to build. $65 total materials but a lot of time measuring, cutting, measuring, cutting, etc.

Flame away for forward facing top. I went with "forward" positioning due to the fact that a fellow club member had problems with his rear-facing Safety-Devices and his MAF sensor. Also, Safari Snorkel is this way and it has worked for them.

There are drain holes in the the snorkel top for when it is raining.

Comments.................?????????? :D

I don't know about that snorkel - after all its not SD or ARB or [insert name brand here].... and its not a Camel Trophy original.

Nah just kidding - Good job! How long did it take you altogether ?

That is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. I can't believe you would do that. You need to take it off and let me get rid of it for you. I know just the place for it.

Nice job.

I forgot to include these pics. They were taken after 2 consecutive muddy offroad trips. Notice the dried mud @ the bottom of the aircleaner box and also in the inside of the duct going to the box.

Justification for a snorkel!

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your design, but where does water go in a heavy rain or splashed mud/water? Down the tube of course, but then were? Can you install a drain in the filter box with a ball-float valve in it or have you already adressed that issue?

I drilled some holes on the bottom rear portion of the "cap". Any water that enters the cap will be forced to the back and then exit these holes. It would also have to go up and over the lip of the pipe on the inside of the cap (defying gravity).

Also, the filter box has a factory drain hole on it. It is hard to see but it is there.

Hey Kai thats awesome! I hate paying for any mods to my truck. I want to make a snorkle as well, it is down on list point after the rear bumper I damaged last year and perhaps some diff guards.

Great job!
