Hey all,
Started my 00' D2 up this morning and noticed black smoke from the exhaust (first time ever) Anyway, about a mile down the road on came the "service engine soon" light and at the next stop light a slilghtly rough idle. I hooked up my always handy OBD scanner and pulled a p0302 code (misfire detected on cylinder 2). My question is this:

Could this possibly be a bad O2 sensor or am I just wishing to hard that it is not a burnt valve?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

p.s.
I am running brand new plugs, less then 5,000 miles on them

A misfire detected on cylinder 2 tells me to check your wires for proper connection and / or sparking between them. What I mean by that is; are there sparks present between the wires while they are connected to a running engine. Spray a fine mist of water over the the wires to trigger this spark.

i agree with paul, why would you think your O2 sensors are going bad?

check the easy stuff first and then panic. don't panic first! :D

I am going to pop the wire off plug two and try the spark test tonight. Thanks for the input so far guys. I seem to have lost mostly my low end power. Once I get up to about 2,500 rpm, the power kicks back in. Any further thoughts?

Same thing happened to me and I had to change the wires, it was not fun b/c I have rather large hands.
