So before everyone is like chuck the OEM stuff and wire direct etc...the lights work I just can't figure out what the issue is when they don't.

I checked all the wiring, continuity, fuses etc. There is a central module (which handles the switching and logic for high beams etc) and my guess maybe that is notoriously a weak link? Problem is when I go to troublshoot they work fine and I cannot get them to work - when I need them and want to use them they don't.

Maybe there is too much load on the module and it shuts down after a certain period of time?

Anyone experience this?

Thanks-

my D1 had factory installed lights on brush guard, looked aftermarket. but the inline fuse by coolant overflow is corroded and works on and off

Do they both go out at the same time? It's more than likely the relay. I had one replaced under warranty years ago, but its starting to do it again. The dealer in Kentucky claimed they were like $200+ each, but who knows. Once they quit working for good I'll just wire them up like the rest of my lights and use some generic relays.

honda450r...I don't NEED to sell it, so I'm not going to price it to move. But I'll price it to where someone would have a hard time buying one stock in this condition and doing all the work I've done to it. I just don't drive it hardly and haven't been on a trail in a while.

Did you ever figure out the cause of failure? I've heard that it's most likely the relay as well, but thought I'd check in just to see if you had success anywhere else.
