O.k. I did a search on a circular squeaking sound for the rear of a d2 and the results pointed towards a rear pinion bearing. The issue for me is, I would think this noise would be more consistent and continually get worse rapidly. The noise I have has been on and off for a couple of months and is very intermittent. It originally did it more when I was on the gas, now it has been more prevelent when I let off the gas. Again, it is very intermittent and may not do it at all on my 20+ mile commute to work, then it will do it several times on the way home. I have installed new pads and rotors since the squeak started and have changed the fluids in both diffs and the transfer case as well as checked both driveshafts and greased them both as well. Any ideas?

Sell it to carmax.

Turn the radio up.

Pour gas on it.

OK seriously, can you carefully describe conditions at which this circular noise might occur.

Maybe I should sell it to the guy that bought my last truck and get a new one...

Seriously, the noise has no ryhme or reason, just does it whenever the hell it wants to...

u joints maybe? also check to see if the nut underneath the parking brake drum is tight...

Thanks for the response. I just greased the u-joints but I am going to try and take the shaft out and drive it to see if I am missing something. At the very least, it will eliminate it from consideration. I will check the parking brake to, did not think of that.

Has anyone ever heard of the pinion bearings causing a very intermittent noise for over a month?
