New here. Shopping for my first D2. Looked at one tonight and noticed that the gaskets behind the rear side glass and alpine glass looked like this… I’m just getting familiar with these rigs so not sure what I’m looking at and what it should look like in good condition…

my impression is that these are foam gaskets that have both dried out and been painted over. Is this an accurate assessment? Appreciate a photo or two of healthy looking windows

Mine are the in the same condition as yours. If there are no leaks from them then they are still good and doing the job.
Now then, my old Disco 1s rear window gaskets had real cracks in the which let in water which ended up rusting out around the window.

What you are seeing is the outside lip of the glass seal. its a trim part and not the actual seal. the glass is glued in place and the cracked part is inconsequential on a D2. Unless it is leaking (more than likely from replacement) the cracks do not hurt anything and cant allow a leak. Those windows are glued in really well.
