My home is where my Disco is
Hi all,
Maybe 99.99999% of us have experienced the dreaded rubber button on our plips crack, and then we know what comes next: visit to the stealer, new transponder, programming and, being lucky, not having to come again because one of the original surviving transpoders has lost the synch with the truck

I found a rubber button kit, made in Oz, offered in Evilbay. Let me just paste the link.
http://cgi.ebay.es/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200462333125&ssPageName=ADME:L:COSI:ES:1123

There's also a kit for RRSports and D3-LR3

The seller's name is wesplas

Hope that helps.
Mine will hopefully arrive in short time so I will be changing my buttons as well.

All the best from the other side of the pond,
Robert

You can always just buy a used case if the buttons crack. The whole key comes apart, even the chip... Im pretty sure I got my last one from Will and the key is great.

Hi Robert,
I did buy a replacement case one year ago, but the buttons themselves are so crappy... you know.

Anyway, I have searched and bought as well a couple of additional cases, you never know how long they will be available, but not from a D2. They are the same and everything fits. One is from the Rover 75, which is comfier to use as the button itself is bigger.
And another one is from the BMW-engineered Minis (one and cooper, 1st generation). You can search this one under "BMW mini one keyfob" in evilbay or in any junkyards. It's the same design, buttons are placed in the same place. Only that you will have to depress a "mini" instead of a Land Rover or Rover button each time you open the truck...

As the replacement button kit is made of silicone, it should last much longer. Will post results of the finished item an my impressions.

Best regards from the other side of the pond

P.S. Robert, you lucky man! onwning a 4.6 D2 (which never made its way in Europe) and a 95 25 aniv LWB, with its soft dash, of which only a handful remained in Europe, they're scarce as hen's teeth...
