D2 shock towers and aftermarket shocks

I'm in the process of putting D2 towers on my D1 along with Rancho 9000 shocks. Problem I have is the I.D. of the steel sleeves for the shock bushings are too large to work with bolt in the towers. Looking for the easiest way to remedy this. Maybe just a different sleeve, but what size I.D.?

rancho shocks ship with a bag of random crap, in that bag are different thickness sleeves.

I have the same setup but with rs5000

I checked all that random crap. The two sleeves had the same I.D. but different O.D. which I don't really understand. Both sleeves were too large for the stock D2 towers bolt. :(

you know, the pro comp lower shock adapters I'm using also ship with a random bag of crap. The sleeves I'm using may have been from those.

Pop the captive nut off with a chisel, and drill it out.
Done like dinner.
Yeah that was going to be my last resort. I'll see if I can find the appropriate sleeve first.

Let me know I.D. and O.D. and I will help you find some.. I used some on the lowered rear shock mounts with OME's but dont think those would work.

Well, the O.D. is and needs to be 5/8". The I.D. of the spacer(O.D. of the M12 bolt) is .469". I know its close, 1/16", but is just feels too sloppy to be correct.

This situation can't be unique to me so I'm wondering if I'm just over thinking it? But I'm also slightly concerned about the stock rear upper mounts?

ummm you're not using taller shock mounts in the rear? I got mine from Denny when I got the shocks off him. I'm sure somebody will have all the info but I'm not at home to look or get measurements off mine

Tighten the bolt.
I understand that tightening the bolt will compress the bushing. However the sleeve isn't going to compress any more than it already is. Can you explain a little more. I feel like I'm missing something painfully obvious.

Jake, no raised rear upper mounts for now. Doesn't actually look like there's much room to raise them on a D1, maybe 1"?

There is room. Have you looked to see how much up travel you have with the new shocks?

I should have enough. I took some measurements but don't have them in front of me now. There's a lot of wasted uptravel with my current set up. There's going to be a bit of trial and error involved after the shocks are installed to get the bumpstop height correct.

my mounts quite a bit taller than stock.. They just push the actual mouting bolt forward to clear the body.... Pretty much the same as this but maybe a bit taller
