I have a 00 D2 w/86k on it and came home the other night fine, went out in the morning to go to work and it started up then when I put it into reverse to back out of my drive way it died. I went to start it back up and it won't stay running. I had my dad help me look at it and we got it to start and idle as long as we sprayed carb cleaner into the air intake. I checked the fuel pump relay, and the fuse in the engine bay. Both were good, I then took the fuel pump out and tested it and it worked fine. I am out of Ideas, and would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance Donnie

just because the pump turns on doesn't mean it's good. The pump isn't putting out enough pressure. The fact that it even starts means it's turning on, no test needed for that. You would instead need to check for the fuel pressure.

If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge, you *can* use a tire pressure gauge - if you have a spare lying around you don't mind trashing. Is there fuel in the tank(?)

There is a schrader valve on th back side of the fuel rail on the drivers side. May have to look for it, and should have a metal cap screwed on it. You can connect a screw on fuel pressure gage there to check the pressure.

Is you service engine light on? CkPS will set off all kinds of codes.
Maybe not on the codes. Mine went and threw no codes. If it's bad and decides to shit the bed uou may not get any codes unless it's running while it dies

no codes, thats what was wierd. I am gonna order a crank sensor today from napa and try it when it comes in. If not that then I am lost as to what it might be.

I've been waiting 5 days for mine from Napa already. You might try Pep Boys - they are a little more expensive but can get them overnight for a small fee. You have to get to the store by 3pm for next day.
